RAEV DISCLAIMER

Thank you for your interest in and support of RAEV. Your feedback and suggestions help us continue improving our products and services.

Electric bicycles are motorized vehicles that require responsible operation. Before purchasing, assembling, or riding a RAEV electric bike, please carefully read the following safety disclaimer and all instructions included with your bike.

1. If you are under the age of 18, adult supervision is strongly recommended.

RAEV strongly recommends that riders under the age of 18 operate an electric bike only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

Young riders may not yet have the experience, judgment, physical coordination, or knowledge of traffic laws necessary to safely operate an electric bike. Electric bikes may travel at higher speeds and have greater weight and acceleration than conventional bicycles, requiring additional care and responsibility.

  • Reasons for Adult Supervision:Limited Traffic Awareness: Young riders may have difficulty accurately judging the speed and distance of vehicles, making it more challenging to cross streets or navigate intersections safely.Incomplete Understanding of Traffic Rules: Although minors may understand basic traffic rules, applying those rules in real-world and unpredictable riding situations can be difficult. Adult supervision helps ensure that signs, signals, right-of-way rules, and lane requirements are followed correctly.Developing Riding Skills: Young riders may not yet have the balance, strength, braking control, and decision-making skills required to operate an electric bike safely, particularly around traffic, pedestrians, hills, or uneven surfaces.Electric Bike Power and Weight: RAEV electric bikes may be heavier and more powerful than conventional bicycles. Riders must be able to safely control the bike during acceleration, braking, turning, parking, and emergency situations.
  • Recommendations:A parent or legal guardian should determine whether a minor has the maturity, physical ability, and riding experience necessary to operate the bike safely.Young riders should begin practicing in a controlled, low-traffic environment before riding on public roads or shared paths.Parents and guardians should provide instruction regarding braking, acceleration, turning, hand signals, traffic awareness, right-of-way, and emergency stopping.Riders must meet all minimum-age, licensing, registration, helmet, equipment, and operating requirements applicable in their location. Some jurisdictions may prohibit minors from operating certain classes of electric bicycles or may restrict where they can be ridden.

By riding under responsible adult supervision, young riders can develop safer habits while reducing the risks associated with inexperience.

2. To ensure a safe and enjoyable riding experience, please observe the following precautions.

  • Helmet and Protective Gear:Always wear a properly fitted and securely fastened helmet that complies with applicable safety standards.RAEV recommends wearing additional protective equipment, including gloves, eye protection, elbow pads, knee pads, long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.Wear bright or reflective clothing when riding at night, during low-light conditions, or in areas shared with motor vehicles.Never wear loose clothing or accessories that could become caught in the wheels, chain, pedals, or other moving components.
  • Pre-Ride Inspection:Inspect the electric bike before every ride and confirm that it is in safe working condition.Check the brakes, tires, tire pressure, wheels, steering, handlebars, pedals, lights, battery, frame, suspension, fasteners, and electrical connections.Confirm that the battery is properly installed and securely locked into position.Make sure the handlebars, seat, wheels, pedals, and other adjustable components are properly tightened.Do not ride the bike if any component is loose, damaged, worn, malfunctioning, or operating abnormally.Contact RAEV customer support or a qualified bicycle technician if inspection, adjustment, repair, or replacement is required.
  • Riding Area:Ride only in locations where electric bicycles are legally permitted.Avoid heavily congested pedestrian areas, unsafe roads, restricted trails, and locations with excessive vehicle traffic.Use designated bicycle lanes, paths, or appropriate riding areas whenever available and legally permitted.Exercise additional caution on wet roads, loose gravel, sand, leaves, snow, ice, steep slopes, uneven terrain, and poorly maintained surfaces.Maintain a safe distance from vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, animals, fixed objects, and other road users.Do not ride through water deep enough to submerge the motor, battery, controller, wiring, or other electrical components.
  • Riding Conduct:Ride at a safe and reasonable speed based on traffic, visibility, weather, road conditions, rider experience, and local regulations.Maintain control of the bike at all times.Keep both hands on the handlebars whenever possible and keep your feet properly positioned while the bike is moving.Reduce speed before turning, entering intersections, riding downhill, approaching pedestrians, or traveling over uneven surfaces.Do not perform wheelies, jumps, stunts, tricks, racing, reckless maneuvers, or other activities outside the bike’s intended use.Do not carry passengers unless the specific RAEV model is designed and legally equipped for passenger use.Never exceed the maximum payload specified for your RAEV model.Do not operate the bike while using a handheld mobile phone, wearing headphones that limit awareness, or engaging in any distracting activity.Never operate an electric bike while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, prescription drugs that impair your ability, illegal drugs, or any other intoxicating substance.
  • Awareness and Communication:Remain alert and continuously monitor surrounding traffic, pedestrians, road conditions, obstacles, and potential hazards.Do not assume that drivers, cyclists, or pedestrians can see you.Use appropriate hand signals before turning, changing lanes, slowing down, or stopping.Use lights and reflectors as required by law and whenever visibility is reduced.Yield to pedestrians and provide sufficient warning when passing, where legally permitted.Maintain enough distance to brake safely if another road user stops or changes direction unexpectedly.
  • Health and Fitness:Riders must be physically and mentally capable of safely controlling the electric bike.Do not ride if you are excessively tired, ill, dizzy, injured, or otherwise unable to maintain full control.Riders should be able to mount and dismount safely, balance the bike, operate the brakes, steer effectively, and support the bike’s weight when stopped.Consult a qualified medical professional before riding if you have a health condition that may affect balance, vision, reaction time, coordination, strength, or judgment.
  • Battery and Charging Safety:Use only the battery, charger, and electrical components supplied or expressly approved by RAEV for your specific model.Follow all battery charging, storage, inspection, transportation, and maintenance instructions provided by RAEV.Charge the battery in a dry, well-ventilated area away from combustible materials, excessive heat, direct sunlight, moisture, children, and pets.Do not leave a charging battery unattended for extended periods or charge it while sleeping.Do not use a battery or charger that is damaged, swollen, leaking, unusually hot, producing an unusual odor, making abnormal sounds, or showing signs of impact or water damage.Do not open, puncture, crush, modify, short-circuit, burn, or improperly dispose of the battery.Stop using the bike immediately and contact RAEV if the battery or electrical system behaves abnormally.

3. Make sure you are riding in compliance with all applicable local laws.

Electric bicycle laws vary by country, state, province, county, city, municipality, park authority, and land-management agency. It is the rider’s responsibility to understand and comply with all laws and regulations applicable to the location where the bike is operated.

RAEV does not guarantee that every model, configuration, speed setting, throttle function, accessory, or modification is legal for use in every jurisdiction.

  • Common Local Regulation Categories:Electric Bike Classification: Many jurisdictions classify electric bicycles according to motor assistance, throttle operation, and maximum assisted speed. Different classes may be subject to different operating restrictions.Age Requirements: Minimum rider ages may apply to certain electric bike classes, power levels, speeds, or throttle-equipped models.Helmet Requirements: Helmet laws may vary based on rider age, electric bike class, speed, and location.Licensing and Registration: Certain jurisdictions may require a driver’s license, permit, registration, insurance, identification plate, or other documentation.Sidewalk Riding: Electric bicycle riding may be prohibited or restricted on sidewalks, particularly in commercial districts and areas with heavy pedestrian traffic. Always yield to pedestrians where sidewalk riding is legally permitted.Bike Lanes and Public Roads: Some electric bike classes may be permitted in bicycle lanes or on public roads, while higher-speed or higher-powered configurations may be restricted.Park and Trail Use: Local authorities may regulate or prohibit electric bicycles on parks, natural-surface trails, multi-use paths, boardwalks, and recreational areas.Restricted Zones: Electric bicycles may be prohibited near schools, government facilities, pedestrian-only zones, private property, certain downtown areas, or other designated locations.Speed Limits: Local speed limits may apply even when the electric bike is technically capable of traveling faster.Passenger and Cargo Rules: Passenger use, child seats, cargo loading, and towing may be restricted or require specific equipment.Lighting and Equipment Requirements: Front lights, rear lights, reflectors, bells, mirrors, brake systems, or other equipment may be legally required.Private Property: Permission from the property owner or operator may be required before riding on private roads, trails, parking facilities, or commercial property.

Before riding, consult the applicable laws and official guidance issued by your local transportation authority, motor vehicle department, police department, park authority, or other relevant government agency.

The rider is solely responsible for determining whether a RAEV electric bike is legal to own, register, configure, and operate in the rider’s jurisdiction.

4. Participate in appropriate cycling and electric bike safety education.

RAEV encourages all riders, particularly new and younger riders, to complete an appropriate bicycle or electric bike safety course before riding in traffic.

Safety courses may be available through schools, community organizations, cycling associations, local governments, transportation agencies, law-enforcement agencies, or certified riding instructors.

Training topics may include:

  • Proper helmet fitting and protective equipment
